In the mid 1900’s a shipping mishap from India to Europe led to the creation of an ideal coffee bean. The exposure to humidity and the sea mists from the Monsoon rains caused the beans to enlarge and bleach. The characteristics of the bean morphed to provide a very low acidic full-bodied coffee which is loved by Europeans today.
To develop the “monsooned” coffee beans, the Chik Monk hand selects single origin Arabica coffee beans from its family farms in Chikmaglur which are then transport to the Malabar coast of India. The coffee beans are kept in aerated warehouses to absorb the humid monsoon mists for a period of three months before it ends up in your cup.
Description: reduced acidity with a mellow flavor of an aged bean.
